First impressions

When style and functionality meet; Say hello to my latest additions in the suitcase collections, introducing Level8 Luggage. Upon the generosity of Level8, I received two of the Voyageur Luggage in sizes 28'' / 26'' in return for an honest review.

We all know when we check luggage airlines don’t mess around! Would a hard shell, big suitcase made to check, hold up to the test?!

I was set for my solo flight across the country when all anyone in the travel space is talking about warning us, “WHATEVER YOU DO DON’T check a bag!”

Despite the current situation of understaffed agencies, help in the baggage service departments seems to feel like an afterthought. I have heard countless stories of airline delays and lost luggage being the number one nightmare and travel horror story of the summer.

Although even after hearing about the headaches, other travelers were experiencing, I wasn’t tempted to sharpen my minimalist travel packing skills and leave these bags behind!

I was going for it! I checked my brand new suitcase across the country. Watch me take this suitcase across the country here.

Unknowing if it would arrive when I did I rolled the dice to see if I would be dealt the short stick for my cruise!

Regardless of these hiccups that are occurring in aviation this summer, I opted to check the smaller of the two hard-shell suitcases. Opting to take the 26’’ for my 6-night adventure starting in Los Angeles. I found this to be the better choice and left me lots of room to pack it to the brim!

Switching things up!

Not sticking to my normal routine! If you have seen me pack or talk about packing for a trip before you know I am a huge fan of packing cubes! Sadly, my laziness kicked in and I didn’t want to climb on a ladder in the garage to dig them out from another bag. So I decided to switch things up and go commando! Just kidding I packed undies but my undies weren’t super organized in their own packing cube-like how I normally pack.

This actually worked to my benefit to get a feel for how much this luggage can actually hold! Spoiler alert it is a lot! My luggage weighed in at 44lbs, just 6lbs to spare before being considered an overweight bag!

Sleek & Sexy

I know we are getting cheeky talking about my undergarments but have no fear, it doesn’t stop there! ;)

I found the outside appearance of the suitcase to be incredibly sleek. The matte black finish is timeless. Level8 actually calls it has a “Micro-diamond Finish” to help eliminate scuffs and scratches. Anything with diamonds in the name sounds fancy right?!

Do I worry that every black bag looks the same… absolutely not! Why? Because this bag simply is not your standard black bag. It’s boxy trunk design makes it uniquely different in design from other bags you will see at the airport! Even though hard shell suitcases have become more popular it still stands out!

Brains and Beauty

The Voyageur Check-In Luggage feels like a double win when you are getting brains and beauty! Brains are the design features and the beauty aspects are the sleek design.

Let’s dive into the brains, aka the design features! The wide handlebar is unlike any suitcase I’ve ever owned. It offers comfort and ease when pushing the heavy bag after a long flight!

Why does this wide handlebar work?! It allows for increased packing space and also delivers stability to the luggage!

For reference I am 5’4’’ this style of luggage is ideal for any taller traveler. The handlebar came up to my belly button when extended! I will assume anyone who is taller than me will really appreciate not having to hunch down and struggle to maneuver the handle as they may have on other types of luggage.

More on the brains and efficient design! The 4 double, 360 wheels pushed smoothly. This helps with one-handed pushing, allowing me to keep my phone in one hand and push with another.

It’s clear the inside compartments were well thought out. I appreciated each side having a zipper closure. This kind of feature is often only put on one side of a bag which I didn’t realize I wanted on both until I saw how much sense this makes! No more opening the luggage and half of my belongings falling out!

Additionally, one side of the luggage has a foldable divider that allows you to separate your belongings. A helpful feature if you choose to not use packing cubes as I did for this trip! When showing the luggage to my husband he thought this area was perfect to keep shoes separate from articles of clothing!

Awarding Bonus Points

What gives the interior extra bonus points in my opinion is the plastic zipper pouch! Incredibly clever space to store liquids like your shampoo or that homemade salsa I decided to pick up on a cruise excursion. Especially comes in handy when the airline is too rough and the salsa bottle breaks! We don’t have to worry about the liquid contaminating and soiling an entire wardrobe!
