LEAKED Information On Norwegian Cruise Line New Ship!

I will NEVER look at junk mail the same way!

Have you ever received snail mail for discounts and promotions from cruise lines in your mailbox? Norwegian Cruise line is one in particular that I have received numerous times previously. They get your address likely from your previous sailing and they send you what the post office calls, “media-mail”. Here lies the problem with this old-school way of marketing.

Norwegians newest cruise ship’s name and itineraries for its 2nd ship in the Prima class have been leaked. A flyer marketing campaign was released for distribution by the United States Postal Service to previous cruisers.

The campaign discloses the name of the new ship, Norwegian Viva, and the reverse side shares the itineraries.

Live it Up Campaign

WantDestinations in Northern Europe June 2023- August 2023, Eastern Caribbean Dec 2023- March 2024, And the Mediterranean in 2023-October 2023

A big whoopsie, or was it intentional?

My first thought about this leak of not only the name or their brand new ship but also the itineraries. How does something like this happen?

Truth be told the cruise industry has had a few rough weeks with additional cancellations and voyages ending mid-cruise.

This could have been an interesting and unconventional way to “stir the pot” so to speak. Norwegian may have potentially released the flyers to the United States Post office early, prior to a proper announcement to simply generate a positive buzz. Perhaps they feared that the current climate wouldn’t generate enough publicity if they had done a proper announcement.

Let’s face it, either way: leaked or intentional… we are talking about it!

Norwegian’s Response

A tweet last week from the cruise line shows a video hyping up an announcement that was scheduled for tomorrow, January 12th. Using the name tag line “Live it Up”. We will wait to hear from Norwegian Cruise Line and see what they say in the nearest hours and days about this for more! Currently, the ship isn’t available for booking but likely will be now very soon.

AIDA Cruises takes delivery of new cruise ship AIDAcosma

First voyage departs February 26, 2022 // Inauguration ceremony in Hamburg on April 9, 2022

On December 21, 2021, AIDA Cruises took delivery of its newest cruise ship AIDAcosma in Bremerhaven from the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. It is the company's second newbuilding powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) - currently the maritime sector's most advanced technology for reducing emissions.

Felix Eichhorn, President of AIDA Cruises, said at the ceremony, "Today marks an important milestone on our journey to emission-neutral cruising. With AIDAcosma and her sister ship AIDAnova, two of the most innovative cruise ships in the world belong to our fleet in terms of sustainable cruising as well as the very special guest experience and product diversity."

A variety of vacation experiences await guests on board AIDAcosma. One of the highlights is the Ocean Deck. This wonderful new area extends over four decks and offers an all-round panoramic view of the sea. The extensive sunbathing area invites guests to sunbathe and chill out during the day and in the evening. The large infinity pool at the stern of the ship provides cooling.

Guests young and old have plenty to do on board – be it on the bouldering wall, on the racer, climbing the rope towers or on the balance course. The new Fun Park with its large indoor playground offers plenty of variety.

The gourmet variety too is being enriched: Summery, light delicacies are served at the Beach House Restaurant. The specialty restaurant Mamma Mia is also new and offers homemade pasta and fresh Italian cuisine with on-site service. The brewhouse gets an outdoor grill with a magnificent sea view.

In addition, AIDAcosma scores with features popular with AIDAnova, such as the Beach Club, the Theatrium with its 360° stage, the TV studio and the spacious Body & Soul Organic Spa. Culinary guests are spoiled in 17 restaurants and 23 bars and cafés.
From the end of February, Hamburg will be the first "home port" for AIDAcosma. There the first of altogether six metropolis voyages starts on February 26, 2022. The 7-day cruises can be booked now.

On April 9, 2022, the champion athlete Kristina Vogel will ceremoniously christen the new ship in Hamburg. Guests of the subsequently starting christening voyage to the Mediterranean can experience this special event on board. The two-week christening voyage, including the ceremonial christening, can also be booked from now on, taking passengers to either Mallorca (until April 23, 2022) or Barcelona (until April 22, 2022). Further highlights of the itinerary include Lisbon, Cadiz and Malaga. More details on the christening event will be announced shortly.

From April 23 to October 15, 2022, AIDAcosma will offer voyages from Palma and Barcelona. The one-week highlight itinerary "Mediterranean Treasures" will also include Florence, Rome and Corsica. In the fall, the ship sets course for its sunny winter home of Dubai.

Carnival Cruise Line Creates New Word For Our Vocabulary, Describing an Unmistakable Feeling

December 16, 2021 10:00 AM EST

Carnival Cruise Line Introduces 'Funderstruck,' New Marketing Campaign Engineered To Highlight Heightened Joy And Fun Experienced Together On A Carnival Cruise

MIAMI, Dec. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnival Cruise Line will launch a new marketing campaign, "Funderstruck," that invites people to choose fun again by booking and taking a vacation with America's cruise line.

Carnival Cruise Line’s 2022 Funderstruck marketing campaign.

Built upon Carnival's brand platform Choose Fun, the company introduces an entirely new word – Funderstruck – to describe the unmistakable feeling uniquely experienced when choosing fun on Carnival. Funderstruck will celebrate what travelers want right now and something that Carnival is precision engineered to deliver – unapologetic fun together with those you enjoy spending time with the most.

Carnival will introduce Funderstruck first through CRM and owned social followed by a series of back-to-back campaign activations during two pivotal Holiday cultural moments. The first Funderstruck spots will air on ESPN and ABC during the NBA on Christmas Day games, in addition to game and pre-game sponsorships. Funderstruck will then be featured prominently with Carnival sponsoring the iconic Times Square New Year's Eve Celebration, through a robust collaboration with ABC and the New York Times Square Alliance.

Carnival is finishing the year with a very successful restart of its guest operations, following an industry-wide, 16-month pause in the U.S. Carnival has returned 19 of its 22 U.S-based ships – including its newest ship, Mardi Gras, as it solidifies its position as America's Cruise Line sailing the most guests of any cruise line. Looking to 2022, its entire U.S. fleet and all ten of its year-round home ports will be back to full guest operations in March, in time for the cruise line's 50th birthday. Carnival will also take delivery of two more ships in 2022 as it grows its guest capacity to more than pre-pandemic levels.

The integrated campaign coincides with the cruise industry's 2022 wave season, which is the annual kick-off to cruise planning for millions of Americans and travel advisors. In addition to the Christmas and NYE integrations, the Funderstruck message will be used across all Carnival owned channels, OOH placements in key port and feeder markets, :15 and :30 National TV commercials, and digitally led efforts highlighted by streaming video, streaming audio, podcasts, unique high impact display and video efforts, and social presence across TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook.

To experience what it feels like to be Funderstruck, click here.

In several spots, guests enjoy the many Funderstruck experiences that Carnival has to offer, from riding BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, to simply enjoying a delicious chocolate ice cream, most notably with other passengers who share an unabashed sense of euphoria and delight in being together again.

"Funderstruck is the unmistakable feeling when you choose fun on Carnival, and the kind of joyful experience essential to people's health and happiness," said Pete Callaro, senior vice president of brand and product marketing for Carnival Cruise Line. "Carnival cruises are the perfect vacation to enjoy with those you've missed having fun with over the past year."

The campaign, created by Anomaly, is an extension of the brand's Choose Fun campaign that launched in 2018. All paid media and integration elements were created by Initiative and supported by the public relations consultancy LDWW.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE’S BOLT ROLLER COASTER RECOGNIZED WITH “BEST OF WHAT’S NEW” AWARD BY POPULAR SCIENCE MAGAZINE

MIAMI, Nov. 30, 2021 – Proving that the first roller coaster at sea is both fun and a feat of modern engineering, Popular Science magazine has recognized Carnival Cruise Line with its “Best of What’s New” engineering award for the innovation and design work that resulted in the July 2021 debut of BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea on board the line’s flagship Mardi Gras.

Photo Opportunity outside the ride with stand alone Bolt car.

Since 1988, Popular Science annually reviews thousands of new products and innovations and chooses the top 100 winners across 10 categories. To win, a product or technology must represent a significant step forward in its category.

“Normal roller coasters use gravity to send thrill-seekers zooming and looping. But if you want to build a ride on a cruise ship—where stable, level ground is far from guaranteed—you have to get creative,” according to Popular Science.

Ready for our ride on the 1st Roller Coaster at Sea!

“As you’re whipping around the Mardi Gras’ funnel while riding BOLT, I doubt many people are thinking about how we got the roller coaster built, but this recognition from Popular Science underscores the tremendous work that went into making this happen,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “While ultimately, we’re about providing new ways for our guests to have fun, we’re also honored and appreciative of this incredible recognition for our team.”

A marvel in maritime engineering, BOLT is an all-electric roller coaster encompassing an elevated track across Mardi Gras’ upper decks with 800 feet of exhilarating twists, drops and turns, including hairpin turn around the ship’s iconic funnel. Riders can achieve speeds of up to 40 miles per hour as they enjoy views to the sea 187 feet below.

Top Things to do in Tampa Bay 2021 (Before Or After Your Cruise!)

Top Things to do in Tampa Bay 2021 (Before Or After Your Cruise!)

What happens when the port of departure is a destination within itself? Well, we put it to the test and see what Tampa bay is really like for a pre-cruise adventure we explore the city from Ybor city to the riverwalk staying in great locations and seeing how much we can explore to enhance our cruise experience prior to our cruise.

There really is so much to see and do that you will want to consider checking it out as well thank you so much for Visit Tampa bay for extending this opportunity for us to experience what it's really like. If your cruise sails out of Port Tampa Bay, I highly recommend spending some time in the city! It is extremely navigable and welcoming to cruise passengers pre or post-cruise!!

International Mall -Bay Street (closer to the airport)

Gearing up for a weekend of Latin cuisine we opt for an evening at the International Mall on Bay street. Loads of dining options are even more dining than shopping to check out. Many of the dining options there have outdoor seating and some even semi outdoors to battle the elements. We grabbed some light bites to eat and enjoy some of the atmospheres here to kick off our arrival into the city and get ready for our cruise!

Breakfast at Hotel Haya

Conveniently this is our meeting spot location for our walking tour with Ybor City Walking Tours so after grabbing some quick fuel for our day we are ready to meet our tour guide Max, a lifelong local to the area who is able to educate us on the history of Ybor City and teaching us fun facts!

Here's an example of a knowledge bomb! Ybor city might be known for the nightlife and the bars being open until 3 a.m but in most recent years the area has shifted to become a more industry town, centered around tech. I loved the nuggets of knowledge that we learned and we couldn't even take a few steps without seeing our first cigar factory one of the many that we will see throughout Ybor City.

The founder of Ybor City, Vincente Martinez, looking over his creation of one of the biggest industrial towns in all of America completely centered around one major industry cigars!

I really couldn't help but laugh at how many chickens are roaming around the city they have free reign as they are protected by the city.

Immigrants came to Tampa and were encouraged by Mr. Ybor to make the move. Promising them the ability to work in his cigar factories and have nearly free housing so these casitas look a little bit different from what we know as casitas on the pool decks of cruise ships today!

Head over to Cuban National Territory!

That's right! This small corner lot it's actually owned by Cuba. You can walk in enjoy the garden but don't get your hopes up too high if getting your passport stamped that's not actually going to happen. It's said that Ybor City is really the birthplace of the Cuban revolution. According to Max, our tour guide from Ybor City Walking Tours, the last owner of this land when he died he turned over the deed back over to Cuba and that's why it's Cuban owned.

Visit the oldest restaurant in Florida- The Columbia -

Fun fact the restaurant has been family owned since 1905
The restaurant is huge for starters, this place is like a maze there are little nooks and crannies and different dining rooms throughout so after your meal, go wander off and you might find some interesting art like a room full of portraits from a royal family you never heard of!

On the weekends it is busy for lunch! They had many delicious food options to choose from!

Sangria made right at the table was a hit along with the salad that they chopped and dressed right in front of us! Both a production and fun way to see what some of their special ingredients are!

Overall the food was super tasty, and delicious! And don't be alarmed when you see white asparagus in the Seafood Paella! Our waiter made quite the impression after casually whispering in my mom's ear after noticing the look on her face of not being able to place what was on her plate! (I can't wait to recreate this incredibly hilarious moment around Thanksgiving dinner)

Explore more of Tampa with the Pirate Water Taxi!

I actually took a short walk from the Aloft hotel so it just took about 10 minutes to get down there leisurely walking to see some sights. The pirate water taxi has 15 stops and is a great way to get across the city to visit different restaurants, museums, and other sites and attractions!

I was happy that the boat ride was narrated but fun facts about the area as you cruise on past landmarks. For example a nugget I adored learning about: if you're familiar with the sport Crew, collegiate teams will come down to Tampa in the winter to practice rowing because it's too cold where they go to school. They have the tradition of marking up the walls with their team spirit. The University of Tampa is along the river as well. I thought this was really neat as I've seen this similarly done before with cruise line employees marking up the rock walls in Skagway, Alaska.

I learned that you can actually purchase your ticket at any stop so that's pretty cool and you can purchase it right away or if you purchase it online ahead of time and then show them. You don't have to go down to the main ticket booth as I did.

Our hotel was the Aloft Tampa. A fantastic location in downtown Tampa. This hotel is a great spot because it's located right on the riverwalk, so you can walk or take a water taxi! Additionally super centrally located being only just about two blocks from the streetcar as well!

Inside the hotel there is a nice bar and lounge, it's even dog friendly inside and with a pool so lots of amenities and a nice location to enjoy.

Go explore Armature works- An upscale food hall with more dining options than I can choose from!

I was super surprised how family-friendly it is and actually, a lot of people were out and about and enjoying it. I spoke to one of the greeters at the door and she said it is the busiest on the weekends but they're actually open all throughout the weekdays too.

Depending on the weekend there's a lot of different activities that are going on like little miniature golf and little festivals and carnivals that are fun for the kids and the families to come out and enjoy.

Delicious sushi and boba at amateur works

Clang, Clang goes the trolley!

I'm a super fan of the streetcar because it can take you all around town, from channel side all the way up to Ybor city and around to the different stations throughout Tampa. It's a great way to see the city and keep you a little bit warm or cool as it is temperature-controlled. They are running every 15 minutes which is super nice and they are free to ride. You do have to wear a mask though inside the trolley and they will hand them to you if you don't have one.

Sparkman Wharf restaurants are actually shipping containers that have been repurposed to be these small food outlets. Enjoy a bite to eat at the intimate dining gardens and beer garden. Such a fun way to upcycle and provides an incredibly fun vibe here in Sparkman Wharf. In the evening listen to live music.

Getting around Tampa is so incredibly easy, for any type of traveler. Again the streetcar and water taxi were a hit in my book made my trip so easily navigable. I'm looking forward to coming back to Tampa again and continuing

I found that there is really so much to do and fun to be had and explore. Even though I've been to Tampa before, there is still more to see and do! I'm looking forward to coming back again to continue the fun activities. The city truly makes it easy for you to extend your cruise vacation prior to or post-cruise to enjoy a bit more of your vacation!

Royal Caribbean Eliminates Plastic Water Bottles Across Fleet

Royal Caribbean Eliminates Plastic Water Bottles Resuming Fleet Wide Initiative

Prior to the pandemic, Royal Caribbean had a three-phase plan to get rid of single-use discretionary products, such as plastic water bottles, coffee creamers, sugar packets, plastic straws etc. Prior to the shutdown, the cruise line was nearly halfway through its plans to eliminate all plastics.

Royal Caribbean is now ready to pick back up with these plans and within 1 week’s time, there will be a fleet-wide massive rollout of no longer having plastic water bottles on board.

Plans for the resumption of this initiative have officially started and after a ship uses the end of its supply on hand, guests will see the switch. The goal is to further eliminate single-use plastics within 1 year of the cruise ships being back online since the cruise shut down.

Spotted Aluminum Cans from sister brand Celebrity Cruises. Photo Credit Doug Swallow

The initiative has already been spotted on ships within the fleet using the sister brand Celebrity Cruises bottles.

There will still be glass bottles of Avion, and Perrier, but the single-use noncarbonated water will all be aluminum cans.

Aluminum cans are recycled indefinitely whereas plastic can only be recycled twice in its lifespan.

Long term, looking into the future Royal Caribbean is aiming to include public fill stations throughout the ship where you can bring on board your own refillable water bottle and refill it without having to use a secondary cup. (Similar to what you have seen in airports or gyms that have a counter of how many water bottles they have saved.) Public health concerns are still top of mind, for the cruise line so they are looking at the best way to include the refill stations.

Bottle Refill Station Seen on Virgin Voyages

On my Celebrity Constellation cruise earlier this month I enjoyed the availability of these aluminum cans water bottles. I was also blown away that they were even handed out to guests while going ashore in a port of call. I found this to be an incredibly nice touch to make sure guests stay hydrated while we enjoyed some fun in the sun. They even continued to do this as they sent us off the ship with a bottle to go as we disembarked. I absolutly loved this simple kind gesture.

The Transformed Carnival Radiance Announced It's New Godmother!

AUTHOR, PHILANTHROPIST DR. LUCILLE O’NEAL NAMED CARNIVAL RADIANCE GODMOTHER

Mother of Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal to Officially Name Totally Transformed Ship in Long Beach

MIAMI, November 16, 2021 – Dr. Lucille O’Neal – author, philanthropist and mother of Carnival Cruise Line’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal – has been named godmother of the totally transformed Carnival Radiance, set to debut in December following a $200 million dry dock.

Dr. O’Neal will preside over the ship’s invitation-only naming ceremony taking place in Long Beach, Calif. prior to its inaugural cruise Dec. 13.

During the festivities, Lucille and Shaquille will cut the ribbon to officially open Big Chicken, the second seagoing restaurant created by Shaquille, featuring dishes based on his family’s recipes.

Lucille is an accomplished speaker who donates her time and talent to a wide range of charitable organizations, including serving on the board of the Orlando Ovarian Center Alliance, and president and co-founder of the Mothers of Professional Basketball Players.

She also established the Odessa Chambliss Center for Health Equity on the campus of Bethune Cookman University (BCU) in honor of her late mother, Odessa Chambliss, and focuses on health disparities, social determinants of health, and social justice.

The author of the inspirational biography, “Walk Like You Have Somewhere to Go,” Lucille O’Neal is a shining example of the importance of education, resuming her studies after raising her children to graduate cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from BCU and completing a graduate program from the University of Phoenix. For these efforts, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from BCU.

“When Shaquille was named Chief Fun Officer a couple of years ago, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be named godmother of a cruise ship!” said Lucille. “To think that my name will be forever associated with Carnival Radiance and that I’m joining other esteemed women who have served as a Carnival godmother is truly an honor.”

“Lucille’s longstanding commitment to caring for others is a reflection of what we look for in a Godmother and as the mother of our amazing Chief Fun Officer, Shaquille O’Neal, we also know she’s got some fun in her DNA so she’s the perfect choice for godmother of this beautiful ship,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

New offerings added to Carnival Radiance during its bow-to-stern makeover include Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse created by Food Network star and longtime partner Guy Fieri; the Heroes Tribute Bar saluting those that serve in the Armed Forces; Cucina del Capitano family-style Italian restaurant; Bonsai Sushi; and the Caribbean-inspired RedFrog Pub. All of the ship’s public spaces have been transformed - including the water park, youth facilities, retail shops, Cloud 9 Spa and a new Liquid Lounge home to Carnival’s award-winning Playlist Productions shows.

Carnival Radiance’s Long Beach-based schedule includes three-day voyages to Ensenada and four-day sailings calling at Ensenada and Catalina Island. She joins Carnival Panorama operating week-long Mexican Riviera cruises and Carnival Miracle sailing four- and five-day Mexico voyages.

Carnival Cruise Line Resumes Guest Operations From Tampa With Carnival Pride

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE RESUMES GUEST OPERATIONS FROM TAMPA

WITH CARNIVAL PRIDE

TAMPA, Nov. 14, 2021 – Continuing its successful restart, Carnival Cruise Line resumed guest operations today from Tampa, Fla. with Carnival Pride. A second ship, Carnival Paradise, will join Carnival Pride, in March 2022.

To commemorate the special day, Carnival held a “Back to Fun” event at the Port of Tampa. Carnival’s Vice President of Guest Operations Sarah Beth Reno, Carnival Pride Captain Rino Costanzo, and Port Tampa Bay’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Raul Alfonso cut a ceremonial ribbon to much fanfare and officially welcomed the first guests on board. Carnival Pride is set to depart today on a seven-day cruise to the Western Caribbean with stops in the Mexican ports of Costa Maya and Cozumel, as well as Belize and Mahogany Bay in Roatan, Honduras.

“We have been a proud member of the Tampa community for more than 25 years, having been the first cruise line to sail from Tampa in 1994, so we’re absolutely thrilled to provide our guests an opportunity to get Back to Fun from the port while supporting the local economy,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

“We are so pleased to have Carnival Cruise Line returning to Port Tampa Bay today. The return of cruising has a far-reaching impact on our region, with many local businesses standing to benefit. It’s estimated that a ship like Carnival Pride generates an average of $334,000 in passenger and crew onshore spending per call,” said Raul Alfonso, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Port Tampa Bay.

Carnival Cruise Line launched the first year-round cruise program from Tampa in 1994 on the since-retired Tropicale, carrying 28,000 passengers a year. The line has since increased passenger capacity nine-fold, making it one of the largest cruise operators in the area. Cruise operations in Tampa are part of Carnival’s close-to-home ship deployment strategy which positions ships near large U.S. population centers along the East and West Coasts and the Gulf of Mexico to make cruising convenient for everyone.

Carnival Pride’s offerings from Tampa include six-, seven- and eight-day Western Caribbean sailings.

With more than half of its U.S. fleet already in guest operations, additional ships will resume service in the coming weeks and months as Carnival’s successful restart of operations continues. All 22 of its U.S.-based ships will be back in guest operations by March 2022.
